Parallel Session 2, Innovation Stage - Teaching TECS: A new professional hub for independent living solutions -WATCH NOW
During this session we will investigate the importance of increasing the awareness of TEC Solutions to create a technology first approach. Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) along with TSA and supported by Tunstall Healthcare have developed a prescribing tool for professionals, practitioners and TECS Service providers to help identify solutions to support outcomes. This session will focus on how the ProAssist Tool can support the TECS workforce by educating them on what technology is currently available, the why they should consider prescribing a solution.

Presentation 1: Investing in the future – Zillah Moore, Marketing Director, Tunstall Healthcare - ProAssist has been supported by Tunstall, as part of its commitment to raising awareness and increasing uptake of TECS across the health, housing and social care landscape. This presentation will explore the importance of investing in the development of the workforce, and also highlight Tunstall’s wider Academy initiative, which has been created to support professional development by expanding skill sets.

Presentation 2: ProAssist: an evolving resource – Janet Seward, DLF, Programme Manager - This section will describe the need for the ProAssist tool and how it has been developed to meet the needs of a wide range of professionals. It will also include a call for them to contribute to the ongoing development of the tool by providing feedback, case examples and content.

Presentation 3: ProAssist preview – Clare Barber, Programme Manager, DLF - A short overview of ProAssist, demonstrating it’s features, functions and benefits, and how it can be used effectively by professionals.

Presentation 4: The professional view: How ProAssist will support increased TEC uptake - A selection of stakeholders will share their real life experience of using TECS in their role, and how ProAssist will make it easier to embed technology into professional practice.

Taking Care will combine up-to-the-minute customer research from YouGov and the latest academic thinking from Professor James Brown of Aston University. We’ll hear the latest consumer insight and uncover the top five issues that will impact the future of the TEC industry and how the industry must adapt to address the issues, not only survive but also fully realise the sectors potential to help people live happy and healthy lives as they age.

Surrey County Council and Mole Valley Life discuss how their TEC partnership is making a difference to people with an acute change in need. Using a “learning by doing approach”, together they are testing out the advantages of a trusted advisor model and the benefits of using remote monitoring to support people in their own homes.

Presentation 3: Proactive Management of Falls in the Community - Aaron Edwards, Implementation and Delivery Manager, Telecare Cardiff, Cardiff Council & Senior Project Manager, TEC Cymru, Aneurin Bevan Health Board

Following on from Telecare Cardiff’s Falls Prevention Strategy (2020-23), Telecare Cardiff have developed a programme of works to tackle the issues of falls in the community, specifically centred on reducing ‘frequent falls’. This presentation will showcase the work being undertaken and demonstrate a ‘data first’ approach to community falls in a telecare setting, using evidence to build the rationale for change to a more proactive, preventative method of working.

Presentation 1: Wellbeing Automated Call Service (WACS) – Steve Carefull, Director, PA Consulting - Wellbeing Automated Call Service or WACS is a bot-driven outbound call system that asks people how they are and if they need help. It makes follow-up calls to check if things have changed, and it records all activity to ensure no one is missed. This helped tens of thousands of people get through isolation safely.

Presentation 2: New approach to Care Technology in Adult Social Care – Natasha Corness, Integrated Technology Commissioner, Essex County Council - Essex County Council will share their journey so far and future ambitions to building technology capability across Essex. The future roadmap has a strong focus on health integration, partnership development, innovation, culture change and digital skills.

By appointing an Integrated Technology Commissioner, Essex has merged preventative commissioning with Technology to ensure a system wide approach that reaches the workforce, partners, communities and Adults in Essex.

Presentation 3: Hubble – the movie: Supporting the digital maturity of the social care sector – Liz Jones, Policy Director, National Care Forum - The National Care Forum’s Hubble Project is designed to inspire and equip social care providers to adopt new technology to improve their quality care. Following the success of the Hubble webinars which showcased the digital journeys of our three digital innovation hubs, we are releasing a series of video resources based on the webinars. This session will launch the first of our stand alone Hubble films.

Join this session to find out more about how a toolkit is developing that supports the proactive and preventative care model and the delivery of quality standards roadmap and ambitions for the future.

During the session the team will bring to life some of the tools and launch the concept of the self-assessment maturity matrix. Two new quality standards modules support the delivery of this exciting programme of work and underpins some of the findings from the Department of Health and Social Care Programme the TSA team have been leading on with the sector.

During the session you will hear from Rupert Lawrence, Head of amica24 who will give his reaction to the opportunities & challenges of proactive care.
