Who is TEC Quality?

TEC Quality is the organisation set up to develop and run the Quality Standards Framework (QSF) - a set of outcome based standards developed in partnership with key stakeholders across the TEC sector. TEC Quality audits and certifies organisations against these standards. Whilst QSF is the intellectual property of the TSA, TEC Quality has full autonomy and sector-wide support to administer the QSF standards. TEC Quality has a team of independent auditors, who have all been trained to ISO 19011 standards.

TEC Quality QSF website

TEC Quality now has its own website at www.tecquality.org.uk

containing everything you need to know about QSF auditing and certification. Here you can read about the 14 QSF modules, view a map of all certified organisations and download key documention if you are applying for or undergoing an audit.

Independent board

TEC Quality is independent, with its own Board of Directors. No TEC suppliers or service providers will ever sit on the TEC Quality Board - it will consist of experts in health, social care, regulation and academia plus actual service users. Former Care Minister, Paul Burstow is the Interim Chair of the TEC Quality Board. The permanent Chair and all Board Members will be appointed in the next few months.

UKAS accreditation

TEC Quality have applied to be a UKAS accredited certification body to ISO 17065. This involves UKAS auditing TEC Quality on how it assesses and certifies TEC organisations against industry standards.

UKAS is the sole national accreditation body for the UK. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of an evaluator. In short, UKAS ‘checks the checkers’. UKAS is a non-profit-distributing private company, limited by guarantee. UKAS is independent of Government.

Standards advisory groups

Standards working groups will give QSF certified members the opportunity to help define, shape and revise technical and service standards. Recommendations from these working groups will be put to the independent TEC Quality Board who will decide whether or not to incorporate them. The Board have final approval on all standards and guidance.
