06 August 2025

Medequip Connect has been appointed by North Somerset Council to provide a fully managed Technology Enabled Care (TEC) service for council-funded Customers across the area, helping them to maintain independence and quality of life.

Managed through Medequip Connect’s specialist local team, the TEC service, which uses the Access Assure proactive insights solution, will include provision of 24/7 monitoring, individual assessments and referrals to identify and install appropriate equipment, ongoing equipment repairs, maintenance and responsible decommissioning, and a programme to introduce enhanced technology options as the market continues to evolve.

North Somerset Council is positioning TEC at the heart of its services, playing an integral role in the social care pathway. Medequip Connect in collaboration with our partners at The Access Group, will contribute towards developing a proactive and preventative approach, delivering ‘Test & Learn’ projects across all care settings. The company will also be responsible for effectiveness measurement activities, tracking and reporting on measurable financial and non-financial benefits.

In addition to providing and supporting the service, Medequip Connect will also focus on introducing enhanced technology options for customers who wish to benefit from additional support in line with the company’s focus on providing proactive and preventative technology enabled care.

In line with the national shift from analogue to digital, Medequip Connect will support those Customers still using analogue equipment, arranging home visits to upgrade their equipment and provide guidance on new digital systems to ensure a seamless transition.

Medequip Connect has 20+ years of experience managing TEC services and systems. We aim to use this experience to ensure that every individual receives the right personalised technology that is unique and tailored to their needs, enhancing independence and quality of life.

Rupert Lawrence, Head of Medequip Connect added “We’re delighted to become the strategic partner for TEC with North Somerset and to extend our service provision from our well-established Community Equipment Service to enhance support for the residents in the county. Our innovative TEC service will enable residents to benefit from the most advanced technologies and quality, holistic service provided by our highly trained and dedicated team at Medequip Connect.”

Andy Sparkes, General Manager for Access Local Government and TEC, adds “We’re delighted to be part of this innovative partnership with Medequip and North Somerset. Technology Enabled Care has tremendous potential to transform how we deliver personalised, responsive care to communities, and we’re excited to support Somerset’s vision of bringing tailored care directly to people across the county.”

Medequip Connect will assume responsibility for TEC and equipment services for North Somerset Council from 1 October 2025.
