Strategic Futures Advisory Committee (SFAC)

The overall purpose of the Strategic Futures Advisory Committee (SFAC) is to support the TSA CIC and TEC Quality Boards in setting the strategic direction and ensuring a long-term vision. The Committee provide information and make recommendations to the TSA CIC and TEC Quality Boards on key strategic issues that contribute to the formulation, implementation, and control of the strategic plan.

The specific responsibilities of the Committee include:

Support and advise the CIC and TEC Quality Boards in identifying and responding to strategic sector risks and opportunities and ensuring that sufficient tools are in place to allow horizon scanning, which will inform Board away days/other relevant Board sessions.
Commission and oversee the delivery of targeted project work, which the Boards have clear visibility of, related to strategic risks and opportunities. This may include gathering experts to examine feasibility of strategic choices.
Maintain continuous dialogue with the Boards, including through updates at Board meetings, on strategic developments and inform the relevant Board(s) when a topic requires urgent focus.
Review the strategic risks on the sector risk register and escalate issues to the relevant Board(s) as appropriate.
Strengthen influencing/lobbying outcomes by informing TSA’s strategic engagement approach and TSA’s position on key strategic issues.
Develop outputs on TSA’s future view of the strategic sector risks, which can be shared with members.
Appoint Innovation and Challenge Panel (ICP) members based on recommendations from the Sector Risk and Innovation Group (SRIG).
